Pakistan's former captain and senior Pakistan Cricket Board official Javed Miandad has offered to help the national team in getting out of its current poor form.

Javed MiandadMiandad, who remained coach of the national team thrice between 1998 and 2004, said although he doesn't have the time to become the full-time coach of the team, he was willing to play a role in improving the performance of the team.

"The position I am in today I can't do anything unless they ask me to. And, some people have this wrong impression that I am just working in the board for the money. That is not true I am working in the board because the President asked me to do so," Miandad, who is presently director-general of cricket in the PCB, said.

"I had also resigned from the board in the past. I am only working because the President has given me a responsibility," he added.

Miandad, a veteran of 124 Tests, said he didn't believe in the concept of coaching because professional cricketers were paid well and were only supposed to play for their country if they performed consistently and delivered results.

"Look at Australian captain, Ricky Ponting he has scored over 11,000 runs yet when he does not delver for long there is talk about him being dropped. India is today surging ahead because they knew when was the right time to drop top players like Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman from the One-day and T20 sides," he said.
