Captain Andrew Strauss hit 61 from 43 balls as England warmed up for next week's limited-overs series against Australia with a seven-wicket win over Scotland in a one-day international in Edinburgh on Saturday.
Strauss and Craig Kieswetter, who struck 69 in 65 deliveries, put on 121 for the first wicket to help lead England past the home team's 211 all out.
Earlier, Scotland won the toss and opted to bat. They lost Ryan Watson for a duck in the first over but were held together by opener Gavin Hamilton's 48 and Kyle Coetzer's 51, his maiden one-day international half-century.
Slow left-armer Michael Yardy took three for 41 while James Anderson, Ajmal Shahzad and Graeme Swann each picked up two wickets.
After Strauss fell to spinner Majid Haq and Kieswetter to Ross Lyons, Paul Collingwood (38 not out) and Eoin Morgan (24 not out) guided England home.
Their five-match, 50-over series with Australia begins on Tuesday in Southampton.
