Uncapped batsman Shamsur Rahman will join Bangladesh's squad in England as cover for injured opener Tamim Iqbal and sick captain Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Sunday.
Tamim played in the Twenty20 World Cup with an injury in his left hand but did not take part in any of the Bangladesh's two first-class tour matches since they landed in England last week.
Skipper Shakib has been diagnosed with chickenpox and has become uncertain for the first of the two-test series against the hosts, beginning at Lord's on May 27.
Shamsur, a 21-year-old right-hander, averaged 67 for Bangladesh A in the recently concluded two-match four-day series against South Africa A.
He also led the side in the subsequent a tri-series one-day tournament that also included West Indies A team.
