Statistical highlights from the fourth day's play of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

#Kane Williamson is the second NZ player after Bruce Taylor to post a century on debut against India.

# Williamson became the eighth player to post a century for New Zealand on Test debut, joining Matthew Sinclair, Jackie Mills, Mark Greatbatch, Rodney Redmond, Scott Styris, Bruce Taylor and Lou Vincent.

# Williamson's brilliant innings is the second best by a New Zealander on Test debut -- the highest being the 214 by Matthew Sinclair against West Indies at Wellington in December 1999.

# Sachin Tendulkar (2004 at an average of 77.07 in 18 Tests -- 30 innings) became the first Indian batsman to amass 2,000 runs under Dhoni's captaincy.

# Daniel Vettori is the first New Zealand all-rounder and the third to complete the double of 4,000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests.

# Ian Botham had accomplished the double of 4,000 runs + 300 wickets in 72 games. Kapil Dev is next, having taken 97 games and Daniel Vettori 101.

# Vettori became the fifth New Zealander to amass 4000 runs or more in Tests, joining Stephen Fleming (7172), Martin Crowe (5444), John Wright (5334) and Nathan Astle (4702).

#  With his last wicket in India's first innings, Vettori had become the fourth all-rounder after Garry Sobers, Imran Khan and Kapil Dev to achieve the double of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets as captain -- 1753 runs (ave.42.75) and 100 wickets (33.05) in 28 Tests.

# Martin's outstanding figures against India are his best on foreign soil, eclipsing the 5 for 37 against South Africa at Johannesburg in May 2006.

# Martin's bowling figures are the best by a New Zealand bowler at Motera.

# New Zealand (459) have posted their highest total at Motera, surpassing the 340 in October 2003.

# New Zealand have registered their third best total in India, next only to the 630 for six wickets declared at Mohali in 2003-04 and 462 for nine wickets declared at Kolkata in 1964-65.

# India have lost five wickets for 15 runs in their second innings -- their second-worst score at five down in their Test history. In the 1952 Oval Test against England, India had lost first five wickets for just six runs -- Pankaj Roy, Hemu Adhikari, Vinoo Mankad, Vijay Manjrekar and Polly Umrigar.

# Pragyan Ojha (4/107) has recorded his career-best bowling figures, surpassing the 4 for 115 against Sri Lanka at Colombo (PSS) in August 2010.

# Virender Sehwag's average of 29.40 in team's second innings is not at all satisfactory. He averages 70.48 in the first innings.

# Gautam Gambhir, in his last nine completed innings, has aggregated just 86 runs. Thanks to his lean spell, his average is below 50 at present -- 49.92.

# Gautam Gambhir has posted three ducks in his last five innings, making 0, 25, 0, 21 & 0. His fourth Test duck is his first against New Zealand.

# Jeetan Patel (14) has registered his highest innings against India.

# Gareth Hopkins' 14 is his second best knock in Tests -- his best is 15 against England at Trent Bridge in June 2008.

# Suresh Raina's second Test duck is his first against New Zealand.

# Raina's match aggregate (3 & 0) against New Zealand is his worst in a Test match.

# Chris Martin has captured five wickets or more in an innings nine times in Tests. He has produced his best bowling performance against India -- his first five-wicket haul.

# As captain-cum-wicketkeeper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has equalled a record for most dismissals, effecting 60 catches + 10 stumpings in 35 innings. West Indian Gerry Alexander had a similar tally of 70 dismissals in 35 innings (18 Tests).

# Kane Williamson (131 off 299 balls) has registered his maiden Test hundred apart from posting the highest by a New Zealand debutant on foreign soil, bettering the 107 by Scott Styris against West Indies at St. George's on June 28, 2002.
