He then takes a single to take his score to 196 before Jadeja misses the glance and gets the bye.

Rohit is hit on the pads last ball as he takes the leg bye to retain strike or the final over of the session.

In the next over, Rohit clips Jadeja to square leg and rushes back for the second run to take his score to 198.

Rohit then gets an inside edge which narrowly misses the stumps as he takes one to take his score to 199, with two balls left for lunch.

Jadeja then looking for the single on the off-side gets a thick outside edge past the slips for a four to raise the 50-run stand for the fifth wicket from just 56 balls and leaves the last ball.

India are 357 for four in 85 overs at the lunch break on Day 2.

Rohit is unbeaten on 199 from 242 balls, having hit 28 fours and four sixes, while Jadeja is on 15 from 27 balls.

Rahane was the only wicket to fall in the morning session as he was dismissed by Goerge Linde for a fluent 115, after he had put on 267 runs for the fourth wicket.

India, resuming the second day on 224-3, were once again dominant with the bat as they scored 133 runs from 27 overs, at a healthy run rate of 4.93 in the morning session.
