Mohammed Shami gets off the mark with a single to long-on and Shahbaz Nadeem sweeps the third ball fine on the leg side for one to get off the mark in Test cricket.

Shami then makes use of the long handle as he smacks Piedt over long-on for a six as India inch closer to 500.

Piedt then bowls one way down the leg side as Shami leaves it alone and wicketkeeper Klaasen is unable to gather it to give away four byes before he takes one to retain strike.

Linde with a chance of picking five wickets on debut. Shami is beaten by one which turns away and gets an edge off the next ball which falls short of the slips.

Shami then gets a huge inside edge which narrowly misses the stumps before the India No 11 takes a quick single into the covers.

Nadeem attempts the slog sweep off the last ball but is beaten.

Pacer Nortje comes back into the attack. Shami picks a single off the second ball before Nadeem ducks under a short ball.

South Africa call for the helmet making their strategy clear of peppering the tailenders with short balls.

But captain Kohli calls his batsmen back into the hut as India declare their first innings on a huge 497 for nine declared in 116.3 overs.
