10:05   India register 11th consecutive series win at home

SA 133-all out (48 ovs) f/o & 162 vs India 497-9 | Scorecard

This was India's first Test series whitewash against South Africa but overall this was the sixth time that India have registered a Test series whitewash, with three of them coming under Virat Kohli's captaincy.

India have now registered 11 consecutive series wins at home.

"Our game plan was clear, to take the pitch out of the equation. To hell with the pitch, we just wanted to take 20 wickets irrespective of where we were playing. We are just focussed on taking 20 wickets and with the batting line-up that we have, we could get those World Test Championships points," said India head coach Ravi Shastri.

"It was a complete team effort. In India you normally have one or two players hogging the limelight but in this series if you see everyone had chipped in and that is what you want."

A huge confidence booster for Shahbaz Nadeem as he comes into the bowling from the other end.

He strikes in his first over of the day, as Nadeem gets him caught behind as the ball stays low but wicketkeeper Saha does well to stay low and take it cleanly.

It has taken India just 11 deliveries to strike on the fourth morning as they stand just one wicket away from the series whitewash.

Nadeem picks another one off the next delivery to end the match. Lungi Ngidi smashes the first ball he faces straight into non-striker Nortje and the rebound goes straight to Nadeem, who accepts an easy catch.

It took just 10 minutes for India to claim the remaining two South African wickets and finish off the contest.

Following on, South Africa are bowled out for 133 in their second innings to lose the match by an innings and 202 runs.

Shami took three wickets in the second innings, while Umesh and debutant Nadeem bagged two wickets each, while the spin duo of Jadeja and Ashwin claimed one apiece.

India win the three-match series 3-0 as they consolidate their top position in the ICC World Test Championship standings.

The match is set to get underway under nice bright sunshine at the JSCA international stadium in Ranchi.

Mohammed Shami to open the bowling for India on Day 4. He starts with a full delivery on the stumps which de Bruyn defends and then tries to clip the next on the leg side as he misses but picks up a leg bye.

A strong leg side field for Nortje with fielders close in at short leg, short midwicket and at square leg.

Shami bowls a short ball which doesn't rise much as Nortje defends and then blocks a full delivery on the stumps.

Shami bends his back and gets the bouncer to rise more than expected and Nortje somehow manages to fend it on the leg side.

Shami mixing it up quite well as he follows it up with a full delivery outside the off-stump as Nortje pokes and is beaten to end a top over.

Welcome to the coverage of Day 4 of the third and final Test match between India and South Africa in Ranchi on Tuesday.

India need just two wickets to wrap up victory and claim an emphatic 3-0 series whitewash against South Africa.

At close of play on Day 3, South Africa were reeling on 132 for eight in their second innings after being asked to follow on. They still need another 203 runs to avoid the innings defeat.

Earlier in the day, South Africa were bundled out for a lowly 162 in their first innings as the visitors lost 16 wickets on the third day, with pacers Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav taking 10 of them.

Concussion substitute Theunis de Bruyn was unbeaten on 30 at close of play, with Anrich Nortje on five. De Bruyn came in as the substitute for Dean Elgar, who was ruled out of the match, after he was struck on the helmet by a bouncer from fast bowler Umesh.
