Southee continues as the first ball is down the leg side to Shami, who attempts the glance but misses. He steers the third ball past the gully fielder for a four and then pulls the next ball behind square for another boundary.

In the next over, Ishant clips Boult to fine leg for a single and Shami taps the third ball to point for one.

A very wide delivery from Boult as Ishant goes chasing but fails to connect before he defends the last two balls.

Shami throws his bat at a full delivery from Southee as the thick outside edge flies over the slips for a four.

Shami has another big swing but this time the thick outside edge carries to Tom Latham at fly slip who is stationed behind the regular slip region.

Southee ends India's innings with the wicket of Jasprit Bumrah, who is caught in the slips for a duck.

India are bowled out for 170 in 73 overs in their second innings.

New Zealand need 139 in 53 overs to win the inaugural World Test Championship title.

The wicket of Pant proved to be decisive as the lower order collapsed, with the last four wickets falling for 14 runs in the space of 23 deliveries.

Southee finished with 4/48, while Boult claimed 3/39 and Jamieson bagged 2/30.
