Rahane punches Jamieson through the covers for a couple to get off the mark. The next ball is full and comes in as Rahane gets to the pitch and defends it right under his eyes.

He then steers a wide delivery off the outside half of the bat as it stays low and goes through the slips for a couple.

Rahane misses the flick off a full delivery as the leg before shout is turned down and he manages to take a leg bye.

Jamieson gets Pant to edge the last ball but Southee puts down a straightforward chance at second slip. Jamieson had done well to drag Pant to play away from his body but Southee was unable to take the chance.

In the next over, Rahane pulls Southee but can't get it off the middle for a single.

Pant chips down the track to Southee but is beaten by the inswinger which goes past the edge. He clips the fifth ball to deep square leg for a couple of runs.

Rahane will need to guide the young Pant as the duo will look to bat out the session.

Jamieson continues to bowl in a good channel, getting the ball to come in as Rahane defends watchfully.

He tries a short ball outside the off-stump which doesn't rise much as Rahane has an easy leave before he blocks out the last few balls.

Southee gets Pant to play away from his body as the left-hander gets a thick outside edge towards gully.

The next ball comes in sharply as Pant does well to withdraw his bat from the line and leaves another incoming delivery.

Pant then uses his wrists to slap a full delivery from Southee straight down the ground past mid-on for a four.

Jamieson continues after the drinks break as New Zealand hunt for wickets and push for victory.

He starts with the outswinger which Rahane watches till late before leaving and does the same next ball.

Rahane not trying anything fancy as he blocks out the last few balls to end the over from Jamieson.
