India 338-7 (73 ovs) vs England | Scorecard

One wicket leads to another!

Captain Stokes strikes in the very next over, with the wicket of Thakur (1) with a well-directed short delivery which nicked the gloves and was taken by wicketkeeper Billings.

Stokes bowled a couple of no-balls in that over but kept persisting with the short ball strategy which reaped rewards for England.

Wickets in successive overs as India slip to 323/7 in 68 overs, with Jadeja unbeaten on 68.

Potts, who has taken 2/72 in 14 overs, is back into the attack. Jadeja clips the second ball on the leg side but decides against the single to bring Mohammed Shami on strike so early in the over.

Jadeja turns down the single next ball before he turns over the strike off the fourth ball and Shami promptly defends the last two balls with utmost caution.

Stokes continues from the other end. Jadeja pulls the second ball but again he doesn't take the single and does the same next ball before he takes a single off the fourth ball.

There is a confident appeal for catch down the leg side as Shami tries to glance the bouncer off his hips.

Stokes has a chat with wicketkeeper Billings, before taking the DRS with a second left in the clock.

There is nothing on the UltraEdge as England end up losing their review.

In the next over, Potts strays down the leg side as Jadeja glances it fine for a couple of runs. He cuts the next ball to deep point and is then beaten by a beauty, as the ball moves away just enough to past the edge.

Jadeja pushes the fourth ball to mid-off and rushes across for a quick single and Shami keeps out the last two balls.

Stokes continues to toil hard with the old ball, which has gone soft and made things difficult for the pace bowlers.

Jadeja keeps out the first three balls and easily manages a single off the fourth ball before Shami pokes at a wide delivery and is beaten and he avoids a quick bouncer last ball.

Potts to bowl the final over of the day. The fielders are called up inside the circle.

Potts starts with a half-volley on the stumps which Jadeja flicks through midwicket for a four.

Jadeja tries to steal a quick single but the fielder's wild throw gifts him five overthrows.

Shami leaves the next ball and keeps out the next two to end the first day's play.

India recover after early wickets to finish the rain-hit opening day on a healthy 338/7 in 73 overs.

Jadeja continues to defy the English bowlers as he remains unbeaten on 83 from 163 balls, having hit 10 fours.

It was another session dominated by the Indians, as they scored 164 runs in 29 overs for the loss of two wickets in the post-tea session.
