So, the first Test between India and England has ended in a draw after the visitors managed to bat out the final day. They finished on 391 for nine in 123 overs with Binny top scoring with a sizzling innings of 78 on debut while Bhuvneshwar was unbeaten on 63, his second fifty of the match.

The second Test will be played at Lord's from July 17 to 21.

Bhuvneshwar won't get another easy opportunity to score runs as he pulls a short ball from Ali through midwicket for a four.

And England captain Alastair Cook comes into the attack. He bowls a gentle flighted delivery first up which Ishant defends before he takes a single from the fourth ball and Bhuvneshwar retains strike with a single from the last ball.

Leg-spinner Gary Ballance comes into the attack. Bhuvneshwar gets a leading edge from the second ball which falls safely of the fielder at first slip before there is a huge appeal for LBW turned down. Even the crowd are getting involved now as Prior appeals for a catch down the leg side. A good testing over from Ballance as Bhuvneshwar opts to play with caution.

The last over of the match coming up and the two captains can agree for a draw.

Cook will bowl seam up now and wicketkeeper Prior and the slips are standing back now.

Ishant blocks the first two deliveries and he strikes with the third delivery as Ishant is caught down the leg side and Cook has his first wicket in Test cricket.

"Batsmen are getting while the bowlers are getting runs!" exclaims Nasser Hussain on commentary for Star Sports.

Mohammed Shami drives the first ball to point before Cook deliberately wastes some time to ensure that this is the final over of the match.

Some more time being wasted before the final delivery as the clock ticks to 5.05pm local time.

Shami ends the match with a boundary through point as the match ends in a draw.

Bhuvneshwar having some fun with the bat. He crashes a full delivery from Ali through the covers for another boundary to take his score to 55.

Both teams going through the motions now and just waiting for the mandatory overs to begin after which the two captains can call off the match.

Bhuvneshwar attempting to complete his second half-century in the match as he slog sweeps Root over midwicket for a boundary to take his score to 45. Australia's Peter Siddle is the only other batsman to hit two fifties in both innings of a Test match.

He drives the fifth ball through the covers for a four before taking a single from the last ball to complete his fifty, from 114 balls.

Root and Ali to continue in the post tea session and India's batsmen continue to have it easy against them.

Bhuvneshwar hits Root for a boundary through the off-side before Ishant pulls a short ball from Ali through midwicket for the same result as the duo get much needed batting practice for the next match.

Both the part-time off-spinners rushing through their overs at a quick rate, trying to finish off the remaining overs before the match can be called off.

The result is beyond doubt now as both teams head into the dressing room for the tea interval.

At tea on Day 5, India are 347 for eight in 107 overs with Bhuvneshwar on 31 and Ishant on five. They lead by 308 runs with just a session to play.

England have given their pacers rest with not much gap between the first and second Test at Lord's.

We will have another hour's play in the post-tea session before you can be sure that the two captains will agree for a draw.

Ishant Sharma gets off the mark with a four courtesy of an inside edge before he takes a single from the last ball of Ali's 20th over, who has taken three for 86.

Root and Ali rushing through their overs as Bhuvneshwar and Ishant defend everything that comes their way.

Ishant gets a lifeline in the last over of the session. He gets an edge which deflects off Prior's pads and goes to Anderson at slip who is caught by surprise and is unable to hold on.

That's end of the post lunch session as the match is heading for a draw.

Ali wrecks Binny's dream of a debut hundred by trapping him leg before wicket from round the wicket.

Binny played a good innings of 78 from 114 balls before he played down the wrong line and was caught in front of the wickets.

England seem to give up hopes of winning the match as Joe Root comes into the attack, thereby giving rest to the pacers. He gives just a single in his first over before Binny lofts Ali over the off-side for a six. He is looking to hit a few shots in the recent few overs and motor along towards his century.

After 100 overs, India are 336 for seven with a lead of 297 and 38 overs left in the day.

Binny is batting on 75 from 111 balls, with eight fours and a six, while Kumar is batting on 28 from 62 balls.

Binny hits Plunkett for back to back boundaries through midwicket and thirdman followed by a single to move to 49.

He brings up his maident fifty from 86 balls from the last ball of the over with a single to midwicket. A good knock by the debutant right-hander on debut to ensure India's safety on the final day.

Binny having some fun now as he reverse sweeps Ali for a boundary through thirdman. Two balls later he comes down the track but gets an edge for three runs to the same region.

Binny is on the attack now as he comes down the track to Ali in his next over and lofts him over the off-side for another four to take his score to 65.

Bhuvneshwar steers Stokes for back to back boundaries through thirdman to take the score to 316 for seven in 95 overs, with a lead of 277 runs and 43 overs remaining.

Broad comes back, to replace Anderson, who bowled an excellent spell with the second new ball.

Bhuvneshwar is looking in good touch as he clips Broad through midwicket for his second boundary.

India are 267 for seven in 89 overs with an overall lead of 228 runs with 49 overs left in the day.

India have scored 37 runs in 14 overs in the first hour of the post-lunch session and despite losing the wicket of Jadeja, one feels they have done enough to steer themselves to safety.

England are still interested but if India manage to bat out another 10 overs or so then they would be successful in saving the match.

Binny is looking settled out in the middle and has confidently moved to 32 with the help of three fours. India will need him to continue to bat sensibly and deny England any chances atleast in the next 10 overs.

Anderson is giving the Indian batsmen some trouble. This time Binny gets an edge but it falls short of the slip fielders and goes through for a four.

Plunkett comes in for Broad as England look for a wicket or two to force an unlikely victory but India's tail will not give in easily.

Bhuvneshwar steers the fifth ball on the bounce to first slip as India get two runs from that over.

Binny shuffles across and is struck on the pads trying for a flick but is saved by the inside edge. What an effort from Anderson to spring some life on this slow and low wicket.

Two balls later, Binny is again hit on the pads but the impact is quite high before the right-hander offers a straight bat to the next ball.

Plunkett slips one down the leg side and Bhuvneshwar flicks it fine on the leg side for a four as India inch their way to safety.

India are 262 for seven in 88 overs, with a lead of 223 runs and 50 overs remaining in the day.

Jadeja flicks Stokes through midwicket for two runs before India take three singles off Ali's next over.

India are 244 for six in 80 overs before England take the second new ball straightaway and Anderson comes back into the attack.

Jadeja strokes a wide delivery from Anderson through the point region for a boundary and Broad also come back but he starts with a maiden.

Anderson then lifts England's hopes further with the wicket of Jadeja, who is caught behind for 31 after a partnership of 65 runs for the seventh wicket with Binny.

India are 249 for seven in 83 overs with an overall lead of 210 runs and 55 more overs left in the day.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who hit a half-century in the first innings, is beaten by the outswinger as Anderson gets a lot of movement with the ball.

Ali resumes proceedings after the lunch break and he concedes just a single in that over to Binny on the leg side. Ben Stokes to operate from the other end and he goes for two runs in the 77th over.

Jadeja pulls a short ball from Ali over midwicket for a boundary to raise the 50-run partnership for the seventh wicket and retains strike with a single from the last ball.

At lunch on Day 5, India are 230 for six in 75 overs, having scored 63 runs for the loss of three wickets in 27 overs in the morning session. The visitors lead by 191 runs with four wickets in hand with a minimum of 63 overs remaining in the day.

Debutant Binny, batting at No. 8, showed great temperament to be unbeaten on 26 from 42 balls, while Jadeja blossomed after a slow start to score 18.

The duo rallied India with their unbroken stand of 46 runs after the visitors were struggling at 184 for six at one stage.

India lost two early wickets on Day 5 with Kohli (8) and Rahane (24) falling to Broad off successive overs, while Plunkett bowled Dhoni for 11.

Plunkett to bowl the final over before the lunch break. He operates from round the wicket and starts with a short ball which Binny pulls square on the leg side for a four.

He then takes a single before Jadeja also pulls a short ball through the leg side for a boundary.

The last ball is again which Jadeja pulls powerfully through midwicket for the third four of the over to end the session in some style.

Jadeja has his second scoring shot off the 50th ball he faces, a flick to midwicket for two runs before he picks another couple in the next over to take his score to eight from 55 balls.

Binny has been batting fluently at the other end, scoring 13 from 21 balls.

Moeen Ali, who claimed two wickets on Day 4, comes into the attack for the first time on the fifth day. A single each to the two batsmen who deal with that over quite easily.

Binny plays a lovely drive through the covers off Stokes for a four before he takes a single from the next ball.

A partnership slowly building for India as they reach 217 for six in 73 overs, 178 runs ahead with four wickets in hand.

Jadeja finally gets off the mark with a lofted boundary back over the bowler Anderson's head, off the 38th ball he faces. The slips have been arranged in an interesting position with the first slip in the normal position while the second slip is very close-in, and the fielder Ian Bell is even wearing a helmet.

Binny drives Plunkett through the covers and Jadeja is nearly run out attempting the third run which is referred to the third umpire.

Binny eases some nerves in the Indian camp as he drives a full delivery from Plunkett through the covers for a four to bring up India's 200 and then flicks the next ball on the leg side for a couple.


16:52   Dhoni falls for 11 as India stumble on Day 5

Liam Plunkett comes into the attack in place of Broad, who bowled a superb first spell in the morning session.

He strikes with the very first delivery, getting the key wicket of Dhoni, who is bowled for 11. The Indian captain played all over a full delivery which moved in and crashed into the stumps to leave the visitors in trouble at 185 for six.

A tough morning for India, who have lost three wickets for 18 runs in 14 overs to give England a chance of clinching an unlikely victory.

Jadeja is still to get off the mark with 36 balls with debutant Binny at the other end.

Dhoni steers Anderson through the thirdman region for another four to take his score to 10. He survives a big shout for LBW off the next ball as the incoming delivery again causes some problem for the Indian batsmen.

Broad bowls a maiden over to Jadeja, who is yet to get a run in 30 balls. India are 183 for five in 60 overs with a lead of 144 runs.

India are looking to bat out time and pull themselves to safety but Jadeja seems to have other ideas. He jumps down the track to Anderson and has a wild swing but misses it completely and Anderson is not amused as he has a few words with the left-hander.

DROPPED! Dhoni (5) tries to cut Broad but gets an edge which is put down by Cook at first slip. India living on the edge at the moment!

Meanwhile, England have tightened the screw with Anderson and Broad three maiden overs in a row.

Dhoni gets the first runs for India after 25 deliveries with a single on the leg side. He has moved to six from 20 balls while Jadeja is yet to get off the mark in the same number of deliveries.


16:16   Rahane out for 24, India in trouble on Day 5

Rahane gets the first boundary of the day as he opens the face of the bat and steers Anderson through the vacant thirdman region, to take his score to 23.

Rahane survives a huge shout for LBW as Anderson got the ball to reverse and come in sharply but it looked to be heading down the leg side.

But Rahane falls in the very next over. This time the ball moves away as Rahane comes forward to defend, getting the edge on the way to the keeper to fall for 24.

India in trouble at 173-5, with a lead of 134, with Dhoni out in the middle and the lower order to follow.

Ravindra Jadeja walks out at No. 7 with a big task on hand. He is beaten by the fifth delivery as Broad continues to make the ball move around.

Dhoni gets off the mark with a single before he steers Broad through thirdman for a four.
15:55   Kohli out for 8, India lose fourth wicket

The players have finally walked out to the middle and the match is set to resume. Anderson will bowl the first over of the fifth day and facing him will be Virat Kohli, who would be keen to play a big knock after his failure in the first innings.

But Kohli perishes cheaply again, in the next over to Broad. The right-hander walks across and tries to play it across the line on the leg side but is beaten by the swing and trapped right in front of the stumps for eight.

India in a spot of bother, having lost an early wicket, in the second over of the day.

New batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni plays a rash shot to the first delivery, which is wide and swinging, but is beaten and is lucky not to have edged it.


15:42   Start of Day 5 delayed due to a wet outfield
The start of play on the fifth day has been delayed by 15 minutes due to a wet outfield caused by a slight drizzle in the morning.

The weather forecast is not encouraging either with more rain forecast for later in the day.

India will resume on the fifth and final day on 167 for three in 48 overs with a lead to 128 runs.

Virat Kohli (8) and Ajinkya Rahane (18) will look to bat out the first session and avoid any dramas on the final day.

Murali Vijay (52), who made a century in the first innings, and Cheteshwar Pujara (55) both fell in the last hour on Day 4 to part-timer off-spinner Moeen Ali.

But the fourth day belonged to England pair Joe Root and James Anderson, who broke the all-time Test record for a 10th-wicket partnership on Saturday.

The home team took an unlikely 39-run lead on first innings after Root and Anderson combined for a remarkable stand of 198, beating the previous test best by 35, to lead their side to a total of 496.
