16:09   Rain-hit Bangladesh-India Test ends in a draw

B'desh 23-0 (15 ovs) f/o & 256 vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

With the result out of reach and just two overs needed to complete the 15 overs needed to finish off the quota of overs before the mandatory overs begin and draw can be agreed upon, Kohli decides to have some fun.

Part-timer Murali Vijay comes into the attack and he bowls a maiden over to Tamim, who is careful enough not to give his wicket away to a part-timer.

And from the other end we have Shikhar Dhawan as the Indian players are all having a laugh out in the middle. Kayes sees off the last over before the two teams agree to take the draw.

Bangladesh finished on 23 for no loss in 15 overs in their second innings to get only their second draw against India in eight Tests.

A good showing by India with the ball but in the end the time lost to rain proved vital.

Only 186 overs were bowled in the Test match with the second day completely washed out but India were still able to enforce the follow-on courtesy of Ashwin's five for 87, while Harbhajan took three for 64.

The two teams will now clash in three-match ODI series, to be played June 18, 21 and 24 in Mirpur with all three games having a reserve day in case of rain.
15:53   Bangladesh off to a cautious start as draw looms

B'desh 17-0 (10 ovs) f/o & 256 vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

This is turning out to be a boring phase of play with Bangladesh's openers just playing for time and the wicket not doing much for the Indian spinners except for the odd delivery in between.

Tamim breaks the shackles as he plays a nice drive off Ashwin through the covers for a four to take Bangladesh to 17 for no loss in 10 overs with Tamim on 11 and Kayes on six.

B'desh 12-0 (6 ovs) f/o & 256 vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Bangladesh are not looking for any fancy shots in their second innings and are happy to play for time. They are six for no loss in four overs, still 200 runs behind India's first innings score of 462 for six.

Just two overs for Yadav with the new ball as he makes way for Harbhajan Singh.

He nearly strikes in his first over as Kayes plays an uppish sweep but Ashwin at fine leg is unable to judge it well and also is unable to stop the boundary.

Ashwin bowling some unplayable deliveries in this match. A full delivery on leg stump turns big taking the edge onto the pads but Kohli at first slip is unable to hold on to give Kayes a lifeline.
15:29   India enforce follow-on after Bangladesh fold for 256

B'desh 5-0 (2 ovs) f/o & 256 vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Tamim Iqbal gets off the mark from the last ball of the over as he nudges one on his pads fine on the leg side for a four.

Ravichandran Ashwin to share the new ball. He bowls a quiet over to Kayes, who gets just a single from the last ball of the over.
15:16   Ashwin takes 5 to send Bangladesh crashing for 256

B'desh 256-all out (65.5 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Aaron comes in for Harbhajan, who has overall figures of two for 58 in 17 overs. He bowls a quick bouncer to Taijul, who is hit on the helmet before it goes on the leg side for four leg byes.

In the next over, Shahid throws his wicket away as he comes down the track and holes out to Dhawan at mid-on to fall for six.

Harbhajan slips one down the leg side which goes off Taijul's pads for four leg byes and slog sweeps the fourth ball over midwicket for a four.

Jubair Hossain is run out off the next ball as he attempts the third run after Taijul had stroked Harbhajan behind point.

Bangladesh are bowled out for 256 in their first innings and India captain Kohli has decided to enforce the follow-on after the hosts finished 206 runs short of India's first innings total of 462.

With 30 overs left in the day, India still fancy their chances of pushing for a victory.

Ashwin caused the maximum damage as he claimed five for 87 in 25 overs, while Harbhajan claimed three for 64.
14:58   Ashwin takes 5 as Bangladesh continue to slip

B'desh 241-8 (64 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Left-hander Taijul Islam is the new batsman and he will face Ashwin in the post-tea session. He manages to play out the over to give Ashwin another maiden over.

Spin from both ends as Harbhajan comes into the attack. He bowls a quiet over, conceding just two runs including a leg bye.

In the next over Taijul goes on the backfoot and slaps a wide delivery from Ashwin behind point for a four.

Litton continues his aggressive approach as he comes down the track to Harbhajan and lofts him over mid-off for a four to take his score into the 40s.

Ashwin gets his revenge in the next over as the extra bounce causes the downfall of Litton, who gets an inside edge and is caught at leg slip after a good innings of 44 from 45 balls on his debut.

Mohammad Shahid decides to take on Ashwin as he slog sweeps over midwicket for a six to get off the mark.

Taijul also slog sweeps the off-spinner in his over for a boundary through the leg side.
14:16   Ashwin gets 4th wicket, Bangladesh 219-7 at tea

B'desh 219-7 (57.2 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Litton on the charge as he steers a wide ball from Yadav behind point for a four and flicks the next ball through square leg for the same result.

In the next over, he uses the sweep to good effect, hitting Ashwin through square leg for a four. Ashwin nearly does him with one that spins big as Litton looks to drive through the covers but gets an inside edge which misses the stumps and goes behind the wicket for another boundary.

Litton looks in a hurry as he races to 38 from 31 balls, having hit seven fours and a six.

Meanwhile, Ashwin continues his wicket ways as Hom is caught at leg slip for nine, he has good figures of four for 72 in 21.2 overs.

Bangladesh have been reduced to 219 for seven in 57.2 overs in their first innings as the umpires take the tea break at the fall of that wicket.
14:01

B'desh 200-6 (54 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Debutant Litton showing he is no mug with the bat as he plays a cracking pull shot off a quick short delivery from pacer Aaron. He is looking very confident and quite assured with his footwork.

Meanwhile, Ashwin replaces Harbhajan and he starts his new spell with a maiden. A double change as Aaron makes way for Yadav, who concedes a single in his comeback over.

Litton decides to go on the attack as he lofts Ashwin back over his head for a six and heaves the next ball over midwicket for a four to bring up Bangladesh's 200, in the 54th over.

The young Litton seems keen to get on with things as he stroked his way to 22 from 23 balls, having hit three fours and a six, while Hom is on six.
13:44   Quick wickets leave Bangladesh in trouble on Day 5

B'desh 182-6 (50 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

With the wicket in the last over, Harbhajan (415) goes past Wasim Akram to ninth position in the list of highest wicket-takers, who had 414 victims to his credit.

One wicket follows another. This time Sarkar plays a loose shot outside the off-stump only to inside edge it back on to his stumps to be bowled for 37.

New batsman Shuvagata Hom throws his bat at the first ball he faces only to miss outside the off-stump. This is poor batting from Bangladesh. He gets the next ball behind point for a boundary to get off the mark.

Litton drives the first ball from Harbhajan through the covers for two runs but plays out the rest of the over with caution.

Bangladesh are 182 for six in their 50 overs, still needing 81 more to avoid the follow-on.
13:33   India's spinners strike, Bangladesh lose 5th wicket

B'desh 176-5 (48 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Aaron oversteps by a long way to give away a no-ball before he bowls a quick bouncer as Sarkar somehow manages to sway out of the way.

Harbhajan makes the breakthrough as he beats Kayes in the flight, who comes down the track, and has him stumped after a good innings of 72 from 138 balls. Another sharp piece of glovework from wicketkeeper Saha as Bangladesh's batsmen give another wicket away with some careless strokeplay.

Bangladesh batsmen keeping the Indian bowlers interested as they keep pressing the self-destruct button in between and gift their wickets away.

That wicket seems to have lifted both India and Harbhajan with a lot of fielders stationed close to new batsman Litton Das. The right-hander gets off the mark with a four, sweeping the last ball through square leg.
13:18

B'desh 170-4 (46 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Pacer Varun Aaron comes into the attack in place of Ashwin, who has good figures of three for 53 in 18 overs and continued to troubled the Bangladesh batsmen throughout.

Kayes pulls the second ball from Aaron on the leg side for one and Sarkar gets one on the off-side as just runs come from the over.

Sarkar is struck on the pads but the LBW appeal is turned down before the left-hander hits the last ball of Harbhajan's over through the off-side for a four to take his score to 37 from 50 balls, having hit seven fours.
13:10   Kayes, Sarkar steady Bangladesh on Day 5

B'desh 164-4 (44 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

If India don't strike a few quick wickets in the next few hours, it would turn into a boring contest with nothing left to play for either team.

Ashwin starts his new over with a loose delivery, short and on the pads, as Sarkar pulls it square on the leg side for a four.

Two balls later, he lofts a full delivery over mid-on for another boundary as Bangladesh's batsmen continue to take risks and keep the Indian bowlers interested.

Kayes plays the sweep against Harbhajan but gets a top edge which falls safely on the leg side for two runs. The next ball comes off the middle as the left-hander drives it through the off-side for a four to take his score to 70.

Ashwin bowls another ripper, pitching on the leg stump and turning miles to go past the edge of Kayes's bat outside the off-stump. This is wonderful stuff from the off-spinner!

Sarkar goes after a wide delivery from Harbhajan as he steers it for a boundary through the vacant thirdman region. Two balls later he slaps another wide delivery through the covers for a four as Yadav at mid-on fails to make his dive on time and ends up looking quite silly.

Bangladesh's approach has been quite positive, looking to score at every possible minute and not let the Indian spinners settle down.
12:55

B'desh 141-4 (40 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

Ashwin creating a lot of chances. Sarkar reaches out to a wide delivery from Ashwin, playing a risky drive in the air through the covers for a four. That could have proved to be costly if he hadn't got in the gap.

Ashwin bowls a beauty, drawing the left-hander forward before beating him with the turn and bounce. That was unplayable!

Kayes gets his first runs of the day as he plays a delightful cover drive off Ishant for a four to take his score to 63.

Ishant makes way for Harbhajan, who would be keen to make an impression in whatever time is left on the final day of the match.

The veteran off-spinner keeping it full and bringing Kayes forward who defends it watchfully. The last ball, however, bounces and turns big as the left-hander opts to leave it and wicketkeeper Saha takes it high near his waist.

Four men round the bat on the off-side for Sarkar, who turns the second ball from Ashwin to midwicket for a single.

In the next over, Sarkar drives a wide delivery from Harbhajan through the off-side for a four followed by a single as Bangladesh reach 141 for four in 40 overs.
12:33   Ashwin strikes early on Day 5, B'desh lose 4th wicket

B'desh 124-4 (33 ovs) vs India 462-6d | Scorecard

We won't have spin from both ends as Ishant Sharma is called into the attack. Shakib Al Hasan goes after a wide delivery but gets an edge which flies through the gap in the slip region for a four which also takes him off the mark.

In the next over, Shakib plays another cracking drive through the covers for his second boundary to make his intentions clear.

But his positive approach causes his downfall. He goes for the cut shot but is cramped for room and gets an edge to be caught behind by wicketkeeper Saha for nine.

New batsman Soumya Sarkar gets off the mark with three runs from the last delivery of the over.
12:18   Play gets underway in Fatullah, India eye quick wickets

Maybe we could have some play on the final day as the weather undergoes a drastic change in the last hour or so. The umpires will soon conduct an inspection and decide on the restart of play.
