South Africa are 152 for five in 30 overs, needing 96 from 20 overs for victory at just under five runs per over.

It's all spin at the moment with Axar and Harbhajan bowling in tandem and the two South Africans are content to play it safe, knocking it around for singles.

17:23

India 247-9 (50 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

When Dhoni walked out to bat, India were struggling on 82 for three in the 18th over before they slipped to 124 for six at one stage.

A splendid innings from Dhoni with just the tailenders for company as he gave the Indian bowlers a fighting total to bowl at.

Renewed hopes for India but South Africa will take heart from the fact that the pitch has offered nothing for the bowlers and the total is very much chaseable on this flat track.

If India can manage to take a few early wickets and if their spinners can bowl well in the middle overs, then certainly they have a chance to make a match of this.

Will this over trigger a change in momentum as far as the Indian innings is concerned?

But Tahir manages to keep it tidy, giving away just four singles before Rabada is brought back into the attack.

He starts with a no-ball but not his fault as South Africa had only four fielders in the 30-yard circle. It is a free but Bhuvi can only loft it high in the air on the leg side for a single.

India 125-6 (30 ovs) vs SA | Scorecard

South Africa firmly in control as India's batting fails yet again. Tahir goes from round the wicket to left-hander Patel, who defends the first five balls before taking a single from the last ball.

Rabada takes over from Morkel, who gets a breather despite taking a wicket in his previous over.

Patel nudges one to square leg but is sent back by Dhoni but the left-hander is casual getting back and is lucky that the throw missed the stumps with him out of the crease.

The last ball is short and Dhoni pulls it fine on the leg side for a four, his first of the innings.

De Villiers using the opportunity to bring back part-timer Duminy, also realising that the fifth bowler's quota needs to be taken care of. The off-spinner slips in a tidy over, conceding just three runs.

India suffer another big blow as Rahane is bowled by Tahir from round his legs as he misses the sweep shot.

Rahane cannot believe how it came back to hit his stumps but the third umpire confirms the dismissal as India slip to 102 for four in the 23rd over.

That turned sharply off the right patch outside the leg-stump as Rahane was also guilty of not covering the line to lose his wicket for 51.

The young Kagiso Rabada to bowl the second over after his impressive showing in the first game.

The two Indian openers have a slight misunderstanding as Dhawan is sent back after coming down halfway for a quick single.

Rohit drives the next ball through the covers with some superb timing and gets two runs in the process.

Rabada gets the early wicket for South Africa with the big wicket of the in-form Rohit, who is beaten by the extra pace and is bowled for three. That was fast and came in sharply as it nudges the pads before crashing into the stumps.

Ajinkya Rahane comes in at No. 3 and he manages to see off the remaining two deliveries as India reach three for one in two overs.

13:06   India elect to bat vs SA, Harbhajan replaces injured Ashwin
India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has finally managed to win the toss and has no hesitation in electing to bat against South Africa in the second ODI in Indore.

The big news is that the in-form Ravichandran Ashwin is unable to play because of injury and is replaced by veteran Harbhajan Singh.

There are two more changes as Amit Mishra, despite an impressive spell in the first ODI as Dhoni himself admitted during the toss, is replaced by all-rounder Axar Patel, while Mohit Sharma comes in for all-rounder Stuart Binny.

Meanwhile, the South Africans are unchanged.

12:45   Captain Dhoni faces the heat as India seek turnaround vs SA
With critics gunning for his head, India ODI captain Mahendra Singh, perhaps for the first time in his career, finds himself in a very challenging situation.

Facing one of the toughest phases of his cricketing life, an under-fire Dhoni will seek to revive his career and change the fortunes of a dispirited Indian team against South Africa in the second One-dayer in Indore, on Wednesday.

India are yet to taste victory since the South African team's arrival in the country, having lost two Twenty20 Internationals (the third one was abandoned) before suffering a close five-run defeat in the first ODI.

Dhoni, in particular, is in a spot. The year 2015 hasn't been a happy one for him after the semi-final loss in the World Cup.

The loss in the IPL final was followed by humiliation in Bangladesh in the ODI series, and the T20Is against the Proteas proved to be yet another no-contest.

While the public debate on Dhoni's poor run with the bat in the recent few months continues, stats guru Rajneesh Gupta comes up with a detailed statistical feature on the India captain.
