Paine to return home after fracturing finger

There was more pain for Australia [ Images ] after the crushing 99-run loss to India [ Images ] in the second One-Day International at Nagpur on Wednesday when wicketkeeper Tim Paine was ruled of the remainder of the seven-match series with an injury.

Paine fractured the middle finger of his left hand as he attempted to stop a bouncer from Peter Siddle [ Images ] in the eighth over of the match.

"Paine has a broken finger and is going home straightaway. Because of the time difference between here and Australia we could not name a replacement today," Australia captain Ricky Ponting [ Images ] said after the match in Nagpur.

"Hopefully a replacement should be flown in by Thursday evening and he would be available for the third match," he added.

The third match of the series, which is currently level at 1-1, will be played at New Delhi [ Images ] on Saturday, October 31.
