Gujarat Director General of Police S S Khandwawala on Monday said adequate security measures would be in place for the forthcoming ODI between India and South Africa on February 27 in Ahmedabad.
"There were some threats that there could be terrorist attacks during the cricket matches. So we had sent our team to Jaipur to see what all security arrangements have been made there. It would be better if we have all the information regarding security cover for the match in Jaipur," Khandwawala said.
"There is a (cricket) match on February 27. We will ensure that the match is conducted safely," he said, adding that based on information from Jaipur his department has update the security teams.
The schedule of the one-day international cricket match between India and South Africa coincides with the festival of Holi, which is on February 28.
With regard to the security during festivals, the DGP said, "For last few years we have seen that in Gujarat we have been able to celebrate festivals safely. It is always better to take precautions."
"We have intensified checking in the city since last few days. And I hope that with all the precautions that we are taking the festivals and cricket match would pass off peacefully without and problems," Khandwawala said.
