Southee giving India something to think about, with the short ball tactics from round the wicket.

This time Agarwal is struck on the arm as he misses the attempted pull shot with the physio coming out to attend.

Another short ball from Southee and this time Agarwal taps it on the leg side and he nudges the next for a single.

Southee continues to bowl short as Pujara is able to avoid the last three balls.

A good arm ball from Ajaz as Agarwal looks to punch it through the off-side but has to adjust last moment, to keep it out.

The next ball is slower and flighted right up as Agarwal defends. He steps out to the fifth ball, hitting it straight back as Ajaz sticks his right hand out but is unable to hang on.

That was a tough chance as Agarwal, on 58, gets a lifeline with Ajaz barely having time to react.

Ajaz drops short as he expects Pujara to come down, who rocks back and pulls it over midwicket for a four, to continue his positive approach.

He gives Ajaz the charge and keeps out the last two balls and then blocks the last ball on the leg side.

Southee provides New Zealand the breakthrough with the wicket of Agarwal, who is trapped leg before wicket by the incoming delivery.

He immediately decides to review it and rightly so as there is a clear inside edge which is proved by the Ultra Edge.

Agarwal, on 43, survives as the decision is overturned. He then is hurried into the pull shot as he manages to swat it square despite taking his eyes off while playing the shot.

The fielder at deep square leg puts in the dive to save the boundary and keep it down to just three runs.

Agarwal runs down the track and lofts Ajaz over the off-side for a six to bring up his fifty in some style, from 90 balls. He continues his stunning form in the match, having hit 150 in the first innings.

He does the same next ball taking the ball on the fall to flick it through midwicket to end the over with another boundary, as nine runs come from the first over.

09:22   India aim to stretch lead on Day 3

India 69-0 (21 ovs) and 325 vs NZ 62 | Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the second and final Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai on Sunday.

New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel claimed the rare honour of bagging all 10 wickets in an innings before India demonstrated their own bowling might to take control of the second and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

The Mumbai-born Ajaz became only the third player in international cricket to take all wickets in an innings after England off-spinner Jim Laker and India leg-spinner Anil Kumble, but New Zealand could not stop the hosts from getting to 325.

In reply, New Zealand could bat only a little over two hours before being bundled out for 62 to concede a first-innings lead of 263.

India decided against enforcing the follow-on and then tightened the screws by reaching 69 for no loss in their second innings, stretching their overall lead to 332 runs at the close of the second day's play.

Cheteshwar Pujara opened the batting in place of Shubman Gill, who suffered a blow to his right elbow while fielding at close-in, and was unbeaten on 29 with Mayank Agarwal 38 not out.

On a pitch offering plenty of assistance to the spin bowlers, India's Mohammed Siraj, who was left out of the first test in Kanpur, bowled with aggression and pace with the new ball to rattle the touring side.

The fast bowler sent back New Zealand's stand-in captain Tom Latham, Will Young and the experienced Ross Taylor to reduce them to 17/3 in his opening spell.

After Siraj's initial blast, the top-ranked test side's batters surrendered meekly to India's spinners.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up four wickets for eight runs as the New Zealand innings folded in just 28.1 overs.

Ajaz finished with figures of 10-119 and walked off to a standing ovation from the sparse crowd and the Indian dressing room.
